SumTotal reveals industry expert speakers for 10th annual global user conference: TotalConnection 2014

Keynote Speakers and Panelists to Discuss Strategies to Transform the Workforce through Learning, Talent, Workforce, Payroll and Expense Technologies

SumTotal® Systems, LLC, the largest independent provider of learning and HR solutions, today announced open registration for TotalConnection 2014, the company’s 10th annual global customer conference to be held October 27-30 at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach.

Hundreds of the world’s biggest brands will converge at TotalConnection 2014 to discuss current workplace trends and the realities, innovations and best practices that are shaping today’s talent management strategies. TotalConnection 2014 will feature keynotes by industry experts, customer-delivered case studies, as well as interactive breakout sessions and hands-on workshops. General session highlights include:

Peter Cappelli, Wharton Management Professor and author of “Why Good People Can’t Get Jobs,” will deliver the opening keynote on Tuesday. Cappelli is an expert on HR management and has studied and written extensively about the skills gap debate, big data in HR and Millenials in the workplace. His insights on the workforce have been featured in leading business publications, including Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and The New Yorker.

Dave Barry, syndicated humor columnist, will entertain attendees with his humorous take on HR for the keynote on Wednesday afternoon. Dubbed by the New York Times as “The Funniest Man in America,” his Pulitzer Prize-winning articles appear in more than 500 newspapers in the United States and abroad.

Fistful of Talent think-tank members Kris Dunn, Tim Sackett, Steve Boese and Laurie Ruettimann will wrap up the conference, hosting an interactive a panel discussion on “The 5 Heroes You Need in Your HR Department.” The Fistful of Talent minds will bring a fresh perspective on the industry coming from a Workforce magazine blog “without all the boring HR stuff like legal issues and employee relations tactics – just the sexy stuff.”

This year’s TotalConnection theme is ‘Talent is Boundless: Transform Your Workforce.’ During the three-day event SumTotal will unveil significant HR technology breakthroughs and tactics that provide organizations with a blueprint to drive cutting-edge HR practices, including pervasively delivering contextual learning and information to employees and using big data to drive HR decisions.

SumTotal will announce its Innovation Award winners, honoring customer innovation and success, during the Customer Appreciation Gala dinner. Nominations for the 2014 award are currently being accepted on the TotalConnection website. Past recipients have been honored for using their HR to overcome business challenges like the complexities of compliance, improving workforce efficiency and building a holistic view of employees by using SumTotal’s elixHR™.
