Project collaboration. From email to writing posts

Genius Live! is Genius Project’s social collaboration platform.

With Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, the millennium has witnessed the development of social networks in the private sphere. And now, observers await the arrival of these practices in the professional sphere. Large companies are starting to consider the importance of collaboration but true transformation is still not here. The consulting firm Lecko, reported that only 58% of large enterprises have implemented an enterprise social network.

In a time where Facebook is introducing its new Workplace platform, Microsoft is deploying Yammer and Salesforce is experimenting with chatter, collaboration 2.0 seeks to gain ground. IT professionals are offering more and more solutions to facilitate communication and improve collaboration within their companies. One example is JC Decaux, who recently replaced its intranet with a social network.

Social networks and overcoming borders

Social networks overcome hierarchical structures, aim to capitalize on knowledge, find experts and prove to be a great way of boosting collaboration. Communication becomes freer and less formal. Companies implementing a CSR wish to facilitate information flow, push the borders and encourage good practice.

In a fairly informal fashion, a "wall" may be more welcoming than an email for sharing certain information. However, the information in an enterprise social network remains separate from everything else, tools, emails, calendars, etc.. In this case, the separation often limits adoption and becomes counter productive. This is why project management software providers add social features to the software.

Genius Live, Genius Project’s integrated social collaboration platform

Because communication between project teams is a way to collaborate, Genius Project offers its own social collaboration platform.

This tool is fully integrated into the system. Each document can be reviewed, discussed and annotated. Employees have the opportunity to create discussions for each document or each project. More than a comment, it actually translates into a transfer of knowledge available to all those involved. The system comes to life with the opportunity to respond and react. Anyone with access to the document being linked to the project, can see the history, reply, or start a new discussion. The platform takes on the role of the informant. The main advantage of this feature is to stay connected to the system. Independent collaboration platforms separate information and require the user to open e-mails or another interface, Genius Live is always connected to the system. The employee finds all the information in one place. All project communication is integrated and collaboration is constant.

Advantages of the “post

In the context of information sharing in the private sphere, companies riding the wave want to capitalize on knowledge. Social networks bring together employees who work in different geographic areas and different time zones.

By using collaboration tools, companies can promote transversal methods and share best practices. Collaboration apps are increasingly designed to reduce the number of emails and time loss and to improve the distribution of documents. Companies seek to better collaborate in order to improve their productivity. It’s worth noting that this trend of collaborative innovation also develops corporate culture. The idea is to write a post to find the best resources and the right information; it’s a real revolution in business philosophy.

Collaboration is part of the digital transformation and that transformation is well underway.
